Porchtraits Series

In February 2020 I decide to leave my life in NYC behind and move to Atlanta to be closer to family and go full time entrepreneur with my photography business and online boutique (Sunny Flora Boutique). The first 2 weeks of my new life were going pretty well. I got a new car (something you don’t really need in NYC), a part time job to make a little extra cash money, and I was starting to make some new friends. Everything was going great until week 3 when my goals came to a screeching halt. The beast we all know as Covid-19 derailed everything (for everyone). I lost my part time job, all of my photography gigs were paused, and life became a lot slower. Instead of letting it get me down or turn me into a couch potato, I decided to get creative. I started a “Porch-Traits” series with local families. It is exactly what it sounds like, portraits of families on their porch (or close to it). I stayed 6ft apart and captured these families during this bizarre time. It was so incredible to see how many families were eager to support a small (new) local business, how happy they were even through this weird time, and to feel their light shine in darkness.
